Burn ISO Images on DVD using ImgBurn

by Aboo Bolaky 13. July 2009 03:38

I just realised how easy it is to burn .iso files onto dvds. Previously, I used to have many issues with the various tools that were available out there..mainly because I was running a 64-bit OS. Now, on top of Windows 7 RC (x64), everything seems to be a lot easier.

ImgBurn

Supports a wide range of image file formats - including BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI.

Burns Audio CD's from any file type supported via DirectShow / ACM - including AAC, APE, FLAC, M4A, MP3, MP4, MPC, OGG, PCM, WAV, WMA and WV.

You can use it to build DVD Video discs (from a VIDEO_TS folder), HD DVD Video discs (from a HVDVD_TS folder) and Blu-ray Video discs (from a BDAV / BDMV folder) with ease.

Supports Unicode folder/file names, so you shouldn't run in to any problems if you're using an international character set.

Supports all the windows OS's - Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008 and 7 (including all the 64-bit versions). It also nicely integrates with the context menu.

AND, ABOVE ALL, IT'S FREE !!! ImgBurn Website

How to change Logon Screen in Windows Vista

by Aboo Bolaky 11. February 2009 07:33

This may be known to some of you but today, I came across this fancy application :LogonStudio Vista (by Stardock).

This application allows you to change the logon screen of Windows Vista to a wallpaper of your choice.

It's available for download on CNET. As a side note, I do recommend you to have a go at other applications that Stardock have built...who knows..you might  like one of them :P

PS: Flavours include Windows XP for XP edition,  Windows Vista 32-bit/64-bit for Vista edition

Cropper crashes on Windows Vista x64

by Aboo Bolaky 18. October 2008 09:02

Just installed Cropper (Release 1.9.1) onto my x64 machine. A Bad Image Exception is thrown at runtime. Consequence : Control Panel ->Programs and Features -> Uninstall Cropper.

Thankfully, Jeffrey Palermo has done a nice job in submitting a patch  [Change Set :18136] on CodePlex. Now, all you need to do is download the Change Set 18136, build the CropperSetup project and use the resulting msi file to install Cropper back again and there you go.....Bob's your uncle.

PS: Cropper rocks ...Thanks again Jeffrey  Cool

Annoying Large Icons in the Windows Vista Deskop - Decrease Icon Size

by Aboo Bolaky 4. October 2008 09:26

If you are tired with the big fat desktop icons that come along with Windows Vista, there's something to cheer you up. To decrease the size of the icons, simple click anywhere on your desktop. While pressing the CTRL key, use your wheel mouse to increase/decrease the size of the icons. The sweet thing here is that the sizes are persisted across restarts. Too bad for you if you do not have a wheel mouse..maybe it's about time to get one? Money mouth
